2010 ஆம் ஆண்டில் htc Hero mobile வைத்திருந்தேன். அதில் தமிழ் எழுத, வாசிக்க சில செயலிகளை பதிவிறக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டி இருந்தது. அதற்குப் பின்னர் Samsung galaxy S3 கைத்தொலைபேசி ஒன்று பரிசாகக் கிடைத்தது. அதில் தமிழ் வாசிப்பதில் பிரச்சனை இல்லாவிட்டாலும், எழுதுவதற்கு ஒரு செயலியை பதிவிறக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டியிருந்தது. அப்போது iPhone வைத்திருந்தவர்களுக்கு, iOS7 upgraded ஆகியதும், கைத் தொலைபேசியிலேயே தமிழ் விசைப்பலகை வந்ததும், அட என்னுடைய பேசியில் இப்படி இல்லையே என்று கொஞ்சம் பொறாமையாக இருந்தது :).

சில மாதங்கள் முன்னர் Samsung galaxy S5 கிடைத்தது. அதுவும் பரிசாகத்தான் கிடைத்தது :). அதில் தமிழை எழுத சில செயலியை தரவிறக்கம் செய்து வைத்திருந்தேன்.  அதிலும் சில பிரச்சனைகள் வந்தது. ஓரிரு நாட்கள் முன்னர் சும்மா கைத்தொலைபேசியை கொஞ்சம் நோண்டிப் பார்த்தபோதுதான் அவதானித்தேன். தமிழ் மொழிக்கான விசைப் பலகையும் அதிலேயே உள்ளது. அந்த விசைப் பலகையில் எழுதுவதும் மிகவும் சுலபமாக உள்ளது. மகிழ்ச்சி 🙂

கடந்த ஜூலை மாதத்தில் Madrid, Spain போய்விட்டு வந்து, அதுபற்றி ஒரு பதிவு போடவேண்டும் என எண்ணியிருந்தேன். ஆனால் முடியாமல் போய் விட்டது. இப்போ, நியூ யோர்க் நகரம் போய் வந்ததுபற்றி ஒரு பதிவு போடலாம் என்று இருந்தேன். ஆனால் வீடு வந்ததும் வீட்டு வேலைகள், மற்றும் வெளி வேலைகள் என்று நேரம் எடுக்க முடியவில்லை. இப்படியே விட்டால் இதற்கும் அதோ கதிதான்.  அதனால் ஒரு சின்ன idea. முகநூலில் போட்ட நிலைத் தகவல்களைச் சேகரித்து இங்கே போட்டால் என்ன? 🙂

The weather in New York was perfect for sight seeing yesterday. (ஒசரம் பாத்து என் கழுத்து சுளுக்கிப் போச்சு ஹா ஹா)

The difference between a place with nature and a place with man made structures was so apparent, until I saw the Central Park, which covers more than 800 acres. Still, a part of the Central Park that looks natural is also man made :). Many lakes are not natural and the landscape is also artificially made.

See the difference between my cover photo and my status photo…. May be, the highest building in Bergen, Norway is equivalent to the lowest building in NYC :).

A close look of the Statue of Liberty during the boat tour on Monday. It is, of course, a beautiful monument.

One of the icons of NYC, Booklyn bridge, the steel-wire syspension bridge. It looks more beautiful in the films than in real . But, definitely, it’s a good piece of work. Haven’t yet walk over the bridge.

Yesterday was a rainy day in New York. Our daughter said “feeling home” 🙂 . What else a Bergen born child can say, haha. Don’t anyone tell to my daughter that I mentioned her as ‘child’. It’s strictly prohibited from her side .

As it was a rainy day, we decided to do some indoor activity and thus went to ‘The Metropolitan Museum of Art’. One day was not at all enough to see the whole museum. It may need 2-3 days of visit. So our daughter chose the galleries. The choices were based on 3 factors that what she learnt at school, what she likes and what we haven’t seen in other museums. We could cover up European paintings, sculptures and decorative art, Egyptian art, Asian art, Modern and contemporary art, Medieval art and a few more rooms of the rest. Asian art galleries included statues of Hindu gods and காரைக்கால் அம்மையார் in the section of India. யாரோ சில பக்திமான்கள் பிள்ளையார் சிலைக்கு முன்னால் கொஞ்சம் சில்லறைக் காசுகளையும் விட்டுச் சென்றிருக்கின்றனர் . யார் குறிப்பிட்ட பொருளை அருங்காட்சியகத்திற்கு வழங்கியது என்ற குறிப்பில் ஒரு சிலவற்றில், ‘பெயர் தெரியாதவர்’ என்று இருந்தது. எனக்கு ஏனோ ‘கடவுள் சிலை கடத்தல்கள்’ நினைவுக்கு வந்தது.

Today, it was sunny, but cold. So, we did shopping and thought to be ‘in and out’ of the buildings . Shopping is not my favorite activity. But I used to go along with the activity though. As our daughter collected information on the location of her favorite shops, and very well pre-planned, the shopping session was accomplished easily, quickly and smoothly .

April 18

I’m in the bus, traveling towards Boston from NYC. They are giving free WiFi in the bus. So, why not updating the FB status .Yesterday, it was bright and we could stroll over the Brooklyn bridge. It was nice, walking in a long road, crossing Hudson River, while the vehicles are running both sides under your feet. I plan to stay behind in Boston to spend a day with one of my old friends. Had no chance to meet her for nearly 25 years. So, I’m looking forward to the time.  Believe me, she is not in FB .

“நானும் Harvard University போய் வந்த ஆள்தான்” என்று நான் இனிமேல் சொன்னால், யாரும் ‘இல்லை’ என்று மறுக்க முடியாது. ஏனென்றால் அங்கே காலடி வைச்சாச்சு. 🙂

Site of Boston Massacre Memorial. Five people were killed, but it is still called as ‘Massacre’.

Yesterday, I stayed in Boston, and letting all other family members go back to NYC. (ஏதோ 10 – 15 குடும்ப அங்கத்தவர்கள் இருக்கிற மாதிரி ஒரு build up) :). I could spend a day with my friend and it was really very nice catching up after so many years (nearly 25 years). கதைத்தோம், கதைத்தோம், கதைத்தோம், கதைத்துக் கொண்டே இருந்தோம் . I came by Peter Pan bus to NYC today. On the way, my little brain was flooded with the memories of Peradeniya University life.The New York City tour cannot be ended without (at least) going up and down the streets of Time Square . Time Square is also called as ‘The Crossroads of the World’. It is one of the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections and it is said that more than 300,000 people pass through this place daily. It is also a big centre for entertainment and very brightly illuminated at nights.

Fly back tomorrow, ‘home sweet home’ .

Two story car parking! I saw such parking system for the first time. I wondered how can the car on the top leave without moving the one below. They said that it depends on timing, the car that needs long term parking comes early and goes up first using a hydraulic system and then the car that needs short term parking goes below. Later, I saw such hydralic car parking system with 4-5 stories (but haven’t taken the photos).
